Sarah's New Haircut

I wanted to give Sarah a trim, so I had her sit in front of the TV to keep her occupied while I cut her hair. What I didn't realize was that she was looking up while I started cutting. Her hair turned out A LOT shorted than I had planned. It's all ok, though. She really likes it and it is cute. It is also a lot easier to brush! I liked it better longer, but it will grow.

Jacob got a free Six Flags Ticket for reading at school. So, He and Scott had an outing to Six Flags last Saturday. Wendy was able to get Scott a ticket for $26 so it didn't cost that much at all! They had a blast together. That was the first time Scott has gone to Six Flags in the over 4 years we have lived here.
They saw tons of characters, but this was the one Jacob wanted a picture of! He's got good taste. I love the coyote!
It took a few tries to get this pic, but it sure is a good one.

Notice Scott is NOT on the tea cups with Jacob. Another dad said that he could join him in his teacup because Scott does not do the spinning thing!
Jacob LOVED the bumper cars. It is too bad that they didn't have them for adults, too. Scott would have had fun playing with him!
Jacob favorite part, though was the pirate ship that rocked way up and way down. At first he was scared to go on it, but it was Scott's turn to pick the ride, so he went on it. They picked a seat in the middle so they didn't go up and down all that much and Jacob loved it. They had to go on again and this time they got a seat right on the edge so they could go way up and way down! Jacob put his hands in the air and screamed with Scott and they flew down. Too bad we don't have a picture of that one!

Visit to Austin

We had so much fun at Virginia's house this last week.
Rebecca loved "helping" with the dish washer.

The pool was so much fun! The boys could really make my kids fly!
Sarah didn't fly quite as well as Jacob did. (She's heavier)

Elizabeth said she was flying in the water.
The Natural Science Center was really fun. We dug for dino bones, looked at a lot of fossils and played in a stream.
The other two boys wouldn't play in the water with us, but Matthew did.

Sarah fell, of course, but she just said, "Oh gross." Rather mater-of-factly.
We had a lot of fun in the IKEA just a few minutes from her house.
Sarah loved trying on all the hats and...

...putting the hats on Rebecca. They didn't stay on for long.

April and March 08

We got season passes for the Fort Worth Zoo so we could go during Spring Break. I was a bit sick, but it was still fun.

Delia was a big help. I'm so glad she came with us. (Even if she is picture taking impaired :)

I had fun experimenting with the cutouts on this one. I will most likely add some stickers when I get it developed.

Fort Worth Zoo June 2008

Here are a couple of the zoo pages that I did. I have several more pages, but these ones show enough. The zoo is always fun. I'm especially glad that we were able to go to the zoo during this week because it was the only week that I was feeling good during my pregnancy. Before that I was sick and after that I was on bed rest.

My friend, Leslie, said that I needed to put some of my scrapbook pages up. This one doesn't have anything really special, but I thought it turned out nice.

Becca is growing by leaps and bounds!
She is crawling most of time now. She just occasionally army crawls, and...

She also has learned out to climb up!

The thing she likes the most, though, is making messes!

Becca following the laser pointer

Becca can get anywhere she wants to now. She is having fun exploring our house. We now have a gate keeping her out of the kitchen and have to close all the doors in the hallway so she can't get into the rooms. It is so fun to watch her grow! Her favorite things are cords, of course. We have to keep them out of reach or she will be there in seconds.

Scott told Jacob that he wasn't allowed to play with Becca with the laser because it was showing her a toy that she couldn't get, but I thought it was the funniest thing and let him do it. She followed that light all over the living room. It was great. By the time I got the camera, she had slowed down quiet a bit, but I still thought it was funny.

Becca's mobility improvement

I'm trying to give a week by week development of Becca's mobility. The last two videos were taken one Monday after the other. This one was taken on the following Tuesday, so it is pretty close. Sorry that I turned the camera. I always forget that you can't rotate videos.

This video was taken on Monday when Rebecca started to push with her feet to go forward while her head was on the ground. I thought it was pretty funny.

Sarah's Birthday

We couldn't let Sarah camp in the backyard because the grass was wet from a previous storm and we were on a tornado watch. Not good to have little girls outside for that!
Sarah told me that she wanted a butterfly cake for her birthday this year. I thought that would be easy. I would just go buy a butterfly cake pan and there wasn't much to it. Then she elaborated more. She wanted to have a sky with clouds, grass, a little girl and a butterfly. Well, there went my new cake pan idea. That's alright, though. I would just make a circle cake and draw the stuff on there. As Sarah and I were making the cake. I made sure that she wanted a butterfly, a sky, clouds, grass, and a little girl. She said, "Right, and a tree and flowers." This cake was getting more crowded. Ok. A tree and flowers aren't all that hard. So, I listed everything out once more and asked if that was right. She responded, "And the sun!" Of course, why hadn't I thought about that? Every scenic cake needs a sun! So I asked, "You want a butterfly, blue sky, grass, clouds, a tree, a little girl, the sun, and flowers. That's it right?" She got a little twinkle in her eye and said, "And a blue bird." I told her, "No bird! That's it!" (I did add the bird, though it took a while for it to meet her specifications.)
The cake was fun to make, but I almost ran out of frosting. There were a lot of colors and I had a hard time judging how much I should make of each color. Sarah told me exactly where to put everything and also told me exactly how she wanted it. (The butterfly had to have a purple body, pink wings, and red spots.) After I had everything on, I told her that there was no room to write, "Happy Birthday." She immediately pointed to the side and told me that I could put it right there. I was already planning on that, but I wanted to see what she would say.
I think I am raising an artist!

Sarah's two friends still came over and they had a sleep over in her room. They got to watch two movies and sleep on the floor. It was fun and the girls were very good. (The worst part was that they are both named Abby, so things got a little confusing.)

Wendy got Sarah a whole bunch of princess stuff in a purse. I think Sarah liked that gift the best, but she is having fun reading her books, playing with her barbies, and sleeping with her lamb, too.
She really likes the lip gloss.

Sarah's Build-A-Bear

I got Sarah a Build-A-Bear for her birthday. I told her that we were going to the mall to get her present and that I needed her help picking it out. On the way, she said that she wanted a princess bear and I asked her if she knew of a place in the mall that she could get one. She didn't. Then we saw the store and I asked her if she wanted to get a bear and her face just lit up. These things cost so much that I thought I might as well bring my camera so that I could get as much for my money as I could.
Sarah picked out the sheep because it was soft and had pretty eyes (eye lashes)
Sarah pushed the pedal to pump in the stuffing for a little while and then she let Jacob have a turn.
Jacob's exact words in this picture are, "I love pushing buttons." (After this experience he said that he wanted a bear, too, but I think he just wants to stuff another one!)
All done! I wish the picture was clearer, but it is hard with the glass.
We brought the newest member of our family, Leah Lamb, home and Sarah got her dressed. I guess we could have gotten her dressed at the store, but I didn't think about it. (She cost too much, but Sarah's worth it, right?)

Becca's Cord Snatching Attempt

She really wanted that cord and I was going to just put it out of reach, but I thought this would be a good opportunity to catch her rolling on video. She must be tired, though. I've never seen her give up before. She usually keeps maneuvering until she gets it. She must have known I was recording her.

Sprinkle, Sprinkle Little Seeds by Sarah Gibbons

Sprinkle, Sprinkle Little Seed

Here's some water that you need.

Down the Sun is shinning now,

Peek your head out, take a bow.

Sprinkle, Sprinkle Little Seed

Here's some water that you need.

We had a lot of fun for Jacob's birthday this year. We are going to go camping for the Elsmore Family Reunion this year so we needed to buy a tent. We thought we would try it out for Jacob's birthday. he got to invite two friends (one couldn't come) over and we had a campout in the backyard. We have a stump that we are trying to get rid of so we have been slowly burning it away. This allowed for a perfect spot to build a campfire for roasting marshmallows. The kids all had a blast. In fact, we will be having another campout next week for Sarah's birthday!
Jacob wanted a solar system cake. Oh, and if you are wondering about his hair, he has been wanting to experiment with his hair lately, so I bought him some hair gel and he is having fun with it. :)
Scott put a candle next to each planet. It worked out pretty good. I'm glad he wanted to have a solar system cake when he turned 9!

We bought trick candles that were supposed to sparkle, but they were just like normal candles. What a disappointment!
He wanted to eat the sun. It turned out that he only ate a couple of bites, though because we he wanted to go outside to set up the tent.

Scott and I ended up setting up the tent while the kids played. We'll make sure to have the tent already up next week when the girls come.

Becca spent most of the time in the tent. I didn't want to put bug spray on her so we just opened all the windows and he enjoyed the noise that the tent bottom would make when she rolled on it.

Scott takes advantage of any opportunity he can get to start fires!
It's a good thing Scott already lost all the hair on his head!

Let's roast some marshmallows!

Roasted Marshmallows are so good! I got stuff for smores, but the kids liked the marshmallows alone better.
