We had a lot of fun for Jacob's birthday this year. We are going to go camping for the Elsmore Family Reunion this year so we needed to buy a tent. We thought we would try it out for Jacob's birthday. he got to invite two friends (one couldn't come) over and we had a campout in the backyard. We have a stump that we are trying to get rid of so we have been slowly burning it away. This allowed for a perfect spot to build a campfire for roasting marshmallows. The kids all had a blast. In fact, we will be having another campout next week for Sarah's birthday!
Jacob wanted a solar system cake. Oh, and if you are wondering about his hair, he has been wanting to experiment with his hair lately, so I bought him some hair gel and he is having fun with it. :)
Scott put a candle next to each planet. It worked out pretty good. I'm glad he wanted to have a solar system cake when he turned 9!

We bought trick candles that were supposed to sparkle, but they were just like normal candles. What a disappointment!
He wanted to eat the sun. It turned out that he only ate a couple of bites, though because we he wanted to go outside to set up the tent.

Scott and I ended up setting up the tent while the kids played. We'll make sure to have the tent already up next week when the girls come.

Becca spent most of the time in the tent. I didn't want to put bug spray on her so we just opened all the windows and he enjoyed the noise that the tent bottom would make when she rolled on it.

Scott takes advantage of any opportunity he can get to start fires!
It's a good thing Scott already lost all the hair on his head!

Let's roast some marshmallows!

Roasted Marshmallows are so good! I got stuff for smores, but the kids liked the marshmallows alone better.
