What's been going on...

Jacob is recovering well from his surgery.  He is now able to go to school all day without needing to rest in the nurses office.  He is catching up on all his school work, but he still has a bit to do, especially because he is still having many doctor appointments.  He has not regained mobility of his neck, yet, but we are going to physical therapy twice a week to help with that.

They are going to do a biopsy of the bump on his arm tomorrow to make sure that it is for sure a desmoid tumor like the one on his head.  They do not want to cut that one out of his arm because the doctor is afraid that it may damage some nerves and tendons in his arm making him unable to use his right hand.

The plan is, that he will have radiation on his arm and also have chemotherapy at the same time.  The chemo that they are planning on doing is just a pill that he will take twice a day.  One of the studies that they did with that type of chemo had only a ten percent chance of it helping with desmoid tumors, but another study that dealt with patients that had the gene mutation like Jacob has had an 80% chance of shrinking the desmoid tumors.  We are just praying that Jacob is like the last group.  :-)  We will find out for sure when all of this starts on Thursday, at his oncologist doctor appointment.  She should have the results from the biopsy by then.

Yes, it is frustrating to have so many doctor appointments and have Jacob going through so much, but it has not really changed our way of life.  It is just part of life.  We can't change it, so we try not to complain.  My biggest problem with all this is I feel that I am not able to give the girls as much attention as I would like because I have to spend so much time at doctor appointments with Jacob, but they are very understanding about it all.

It will be nice to have this next week over.  Besides Jacob's stuff, Rebecca is also having her adenoids taken out and ear tubes put in on Friday.  At least Scott and I are going to be able to take a day off on Wednesday for our anniversary and go down to San Antonio for the day.  That will be a great break!

Thanks for all of your prayers.  I will try to keep you more updated.
